May 10th, 2000, Universal Amphitheatre, Universal City CA... Survivor/Styx/REO

A lesson that sometimes things are cool even if you can't have the better seats...

This show still doesn't hold a full candle to my first... but I got to hear Brave New World LIVE!  (I have a very special spot in my heart for it... it has lots of meaning to me...)  AND it was a gift for my 18th birthday... but the pre-show surprise is what really got me.  :)  Not the same show... and well... it WAS cool... just not the same.  Universal Amp is WAY bigger than the Sun Theatre (13,000+ seats vs. 1,200 seats).  I had WAYYYYYYYYYY Gowan side (left), practically looking at the show SIDEWAYS!  *gasp*  But anyway...

I had school that day... it was a Wed. after all.  :D  And so... I was hyped and decked in Styx gear.  :)  Every one of my friends knew at school.  Heh.  And 4 o'clock came... I had my stuff, and got picked up.  We hung at Byron's (friend of the family... he's a Styx/REO fan... he loaned me Grand Illusion... it was all his fault I'm here now!!!).  And the time came to leave... I looked out the door.  And MEIN GOTT!  ITS A LIMO!!!  *drop dead faint*  ME?! LIMO?!  WHOA!  :)  First time... it was cool.  So we boarded ... his housemates were going to dinner and checking out the City Walk while we kicked it at the concert... oh... side note... we had Taco Bell for dinner... at the BAD one... oooopsie... (Needless to say... that food did NOT agree with me and spoiled the concert somewhat.  I am STILL MAD to this day... you'll see the results later... can we say I am not eating before my next show anything I question to bother my stomach (and now I have to be careful anyway because I have a possible ulcer as well... *sighs @ health problems*) So... health-wise... my life bites... the older I get, the more trouble I have... :P)

Well... we were on our way... I had Brave New World in the CD player after a bit.  :D  We had fun on the way there watching people look.  *snicker*  Talked about things... like we could make faces and they couldn't see us.  We were impatient.  OK.... so we get there... and thus we are dying from too much to drink.  :D  Wander, find THAT destination (I HATE CA FREEWAYS!!!!  TRAFFIC TRAFFIC TRAFFIC!!!!   I thought we'd NEVER get to the place... *sigh*)  And so we hung pre-show awhile... was waiting for my companion, had my Pikabelle shirt on... was spotted by Sherry *waves*  It was cool.  Then we headed in... got searched.  :P  Sheeeesh.  Found we were kind of... broke.  *sigh*  No shirt for me.  We go in, relax... finally Survivor, the opener hits the stage... bit bass range heavy IMO.  And by the last song, I wasn't feeling too keen.  BAD DINNER!  (Never eating Taco Bell before shows... ESP. from the one I did... I keep forgetting I have problems with that one... its inevitable I will forget again... *sigh*)  Ran to the bathroom... came back at intermission unhappy.  (ANOTHER SHOW RUINED!!)  And we hear Styx is next.  OH COOL!  :D  Soooooo... the lights do finally go down... the intro to EIC starts...

THE WHOLE PLACE SEEMED TO STAND AND CHEER TOGETHER!

...and THAT WAS AWESOME!!!  We're talking 10,000+ or MORE (I'm a bad judge... I don't know the Amp's seating or nothing... but it was near full there...) and WHOLE PLACE STOOD!  WE WERE HERE FOR A KICK @$$ ROCK SHOW AND WERE GETTING IT!  :D  The crowd was awesome!  So was STYX!  I had no one ELSE in my row of 6 seats... I had the middle ones... *giggles*  And yes, I STOOD... even in my misery... and I had 2 SMALL signs.  Can't remember them now... *sigh*  But it was cool.  AND I STOOD the entire show... even during Brave New World... even if everyone seemed to sit.  :(  :P~~~  But they rocked.  Glen did a lil tush wiggle towards my side's direction.  :D  Ad what a cute one!  ^_~  Loved it all... and then dinner struck afterwards... and I was getting a headache now... *pout*  1/2 way into REO's first song... I had to leave... my head was hurting and I was feeling sore and cranky.  I felt really bad... but we went back to the limo... and waited for the others... picked up a poster thought on the way out.  :D  But... it was a cool night... even if dinner did try to kill it and did to some degree.  Loved it... had to be far back... but hey... I lived.  ^_^  An awesome show for my 18th birthday.

THE END - yeah... not so cool, was it...?
