I thought I would talk a bit about me, and how I became a fan. See, I'm not JUST anyone... hehe. I'm ME. LOL!
OK, first off... I'm 18. Yes, I really am. NO, I'm not showing ID on the internet. :P I'm NOT that crazy (yet - give me a few more years of being in college)!! But I am an 18 year old Styx fan, and let me tell you how it happened...
It was the summer of 1997. I was bored and needed new music to listen to. I listened to oldies mainly, some other stuff, but not much. So... I asked a friend of the family, of whom I was working for at the time, if he had anything. Me, being a mythology fan, and loving the River Styx, chose the CD The Grand Illusion. It was a bit beat up, but it worked. *g* It was Man in the Wilderness and Castle Walls that REALLY hooked me. The next CD that came in was Kilroy Was Here. Yes, THAT ONE. Loved it. To this very day I do. Just Get Through This Night would get extra meaning later... but this was just the beginning yet. THEN came Return to Paradise, which showed me the 'hits' live. *DING* Now I HAD to know more, and hear more. So... this was like August 1997 by now. Dec. 97 something happens to my Return to Paradise (Waaaaahh!) and I had to get a new one. Jan 98 I have money, and Jan 5th I go music shopping. Hmmm... I have $20, RtP's about 25. Hmmm... I spot Greatest Hits CD. I get that. (I did replace my RtP, and had to ONCE MORE... this is copy 3 I am on.) And I read the booklet, and I am drawn in. And NOW I know what to look for! *g*
And from there I collected the CDs. And then, Aug. 98, I got 7DZ. I discovered TS solo. :) And Damn Yankees I tried in Spring of 99, and got more TS solo. And now I'm finding Glen, Gowan, JY, and DDY solo in any form I can. Its not an obsession if I enjoy it. I love the music. Of course, I am a person who is drawn by lyrics and beautiful singing and music. Styx was something I feel I was bound to discover. Darn my birth year! Oh well. ^_~ I'm not the only young Stygian, but... I feel that I have a future ahead. And Styx will be with me. Unlike other things people think I am obsessed with (as if THEY don't have such things!) Styx has been a constant 3 years now. That is a record and speaks testament to the power of the music. :) Cya!
